With the dual advantages of being able to hold far more information than traditional barcodes, and decoding through mobile phones, 2D barcodes have the potential to lead consumer tagging of physical objects in countries like India, where mobile phone density is far higher than penetration of specialized scanners.

At Moxx, we are working to incorporate QRcode into interesting carrier and customer applications. Using QRcode readers and standard webcameras, we have deployed point of sale terminals for a fraction of the cost of commercial alternatives and with zero additional hardware costs.
